Our Story
Blusoul Media is a South African-based multimedia company headquartered in Phalaborwa, Limpopo. Established in 2013 by acclaimed R&B artist Unqle Chriz, the company was initially conceptualized as a house music duo comprising Unqle Chriz and his late friend, Lucas Nkuna. Following Nkuna’s untimely passing in 2012, Unqle Chriz chose to preserve his friend's legacy by officially registering Blusoul Media as a multimedia enterprise. The name Blusoul is a fusion of the words “blues” and “soul,” symbolizing the emotional depth and musical roots of the company’s creative vision.
In 2014, Blusoul Media gained local recognition by hosting The Blusoul Red Carpet Show in Phalaborwa. Organized by Unqle Chriz in collaboration with Elrique and Josh Rikho, the event attracted an audience of over 1,000 attendees and marked a major milestone in the company’s public engagement efforts. Building on this momentum, the team later launched the Blusoul Ladies Party. However, due to financial limitations and the absence of formal funding, Blusoul Media paused its event-hosting activities in 2015 to focus on more sustainable ventures—primarily music production and video content creation.
A pivotal moment in the company's evolution occurred in 2016 when Unqle Chriz began collaborating with Hip Hop artist Smaushu. Their partnership led to the production of several music tracks and, by 2019, the acquisition of the company’s first professional camera and reflector. This investment enabled Blusoul Media to expand into music video production, with their debut video airing on Channel O—one of Africa’s premier music television channels.
Since then, Blusoul Media has continually invested in audio-visual equipment and broadened its creative services, specializing in both music and video production. In 2025, the company entered a new era of growth when Tirani Mthembi, a long-time associate of Unqle Chriz and founder of the IT firm Digitech Express, acquired a 50% stake in the business. The partnership brought together complementary skill sets: Unqle Chriz leads production and marketing, while Tirani Mthembi oversees business development and operations.
Today, Blusoul Media stands as a dynamic, artist-led company committed to producing high-quality multimedia content while fostering local talent and innovation in South Africa's creative industries.
